Nottinghamshire
Lorraine Cockell - Nottinghamshire
Level 1 Qualified
Having played tennis at league and county level in Nottingham for over 30 years, I was introduced to pickleball and padel tennis three years ago when the physical demands of tennis began to take their toll. It didn’t take long for pickleball to capture my attention—and I’ve never looked back.
Recognising the lack of opportunities to play pickleball in Nottinghamshire, particularly within rural communities, I was motivated to gain my Pickleball Leadership and Level 1 Club Instructor qualifications. My aim has always been to raise awareness of the sport and make it accessible to players in all areas and of all ages and abilities.
Over the past year, I have co-run a successful coaching business, delivering sessions for beginners through to intermediate players across multiple venues. Together, we have built a thriving membership of over 200 players. Alongside coaching, I have organised club tournaments, friendly matches with other pickleball clubs, and a variety of fun social events, as well as providing private sessions to help players reach their full potential.
More recently, I have begun coaching at David Lloyd, where my focus is on continuing to grow and develop pickleball within Nottinghamshire.
My greatest reward comes from seeing players enjoy themselves – creating a welcoming environment where everyone has fun, improves their game, and leaves the court smiling.

I have my First Aid Certification, safeguarding certification, and DBS Certificate.
I will be working with both adults and juniors through my coaching role and aim to pass on my passion and enthuse people to play and keep playing and helping to make them better players.
