Level 1 Coaches
Dan Busby - Solihull, West Midlands
Level 1 Qualified
I’m a Pickleball England Level 1 coach, also a qualified squash and badminton coach. Have been involved in racket sports for a long time, former professional Squash player and Racketlon World Champion/World number 1. Strong Pickleball player too, current DUPR around 4.3.
I offer 1:1 and small group sessions, based near Solihull in the West Midlands. My coaching philosophy is to make sessions fun and enjoyable and love to see confidence and skills grow through sessions.

Michael De Groot - West Midlands
Level 1 Qualified
Passionate about helping players at all levels, I’ve coached over 1,500 people since 2022 (as an IPTPA Level 1 coach)— from complete beginners picking up a paddle for the first time, to players looking to sharpen their game.
I’m now a PbE Level 1 coach (converted in May 2025), and currently in the process of completing my PbE Level 2. I also run PbE Leaders Certification courses across the West Midlands and beyond. As the founder of Staying Alive Pickleball Coaching, I offer fun, engaging, and tailored sessions designed to help players improve, build confidence, and fall in love with the sport.
Henry Davis - Birmingham
Level 1 Qualified
I started playing pickleball after retiring in January 2024 and obtained my level 1 pickleball coaching certificate in March 2026.
I have coaching experience in basketball, and helped train undergraduate medical students in the past.
I feel pickleball is a great way to facilitate participation in physical activity at all ages, particularly in the under 18’s and maintain physical activity in the over 55’s.
I prefer coaching small groups of up to 8 people concentrating on the basic
skills and strategies aiming to increase players’ skills and confidence in a fun and relaxed environment.

Hi there! I’m James, Founder and Lead Coach at Power Pickleball.
Power Pickleball delivers multiple pickleball sessions each week in Halesowen and Stourbridge – welcoming players of mixed ages and abilities.
Sessions range from fun, inclusive matchplay to focused, small-group coaching.

Gary Sirett - West Midlands (Birmingham)
Level 1 Qualified
With a strong foundation in sports coaching and over a decade of experience leading football teams across all age groups — from junior to adult — Gary brings both patience and enthusiasm to the court.
Certified as a Pickleball Leaders Coach in February 2025 and a Level 1 Club Instructor (LT1) in July 2025, he blends technical knowledge with a friendly, approachable style.
Gary thrives on helping beginners build confidence and skill in pickleball, teaching essential shots and foundational techniques with clarity and encouragement.
Whether you’re new to the game or looking to sharpen your basics, he’s committed to helping every player enjoy the thrill of learning and improving.
IPTPA
Pickleball England also recognise the INTERNATIONAL PICKLEBALL TEACHING PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION (IPTPA) qualification. As acknowledged in the Club Instructor workbook some of the concepts in our curriculum are based on IPTPA.
PickleballEngland provides the coaching insurance for IPTPA Coaches listed on the IPTPA website (click button below). Since this is a dynamic list, we can’t list everyone on this page. We also don’t have visibility for which coaches have all the above evidence.
