Congratulations Keith Grainge
Elaine Shallcross was not the only person to receive recognition as part of the King’s Birthday Honours this summer.
Keith Grainge, from York was awarded the British Citizen Award Certificate o Honour in recognition of exceptional positive impact on society and as an inspiration to others.
The award doesn’t specifically state pickleball but the voluntary work he has been doing is pickleball. As Keith said on his PbE membership registration “I organise older players who would otherwise miss out on a life changing experience. Based at Tadcaster leisure centre.”
Keith himself is in his 8th decade and is obviously an amazing role model.
Keith’s award was featured on BBC Look North on 9th August.
August NE Festival
Instead of a Doubles League, there was an all day festival for the NE on 13th August in Leeds. Over 70 players got together to enjoy playing pickleball on the acrylic surface of the John Charles Centre for Sport. There was a raffle with prizes donated by Wilson and Pickleball People, which raised £148 for Cancer Research.

6th April Results
This month’s league took place at the Galtres Centre in Easingwold and was led by Dave Turnbull, County Rep for North Yorkshire. There were two last minute withdrawals so Dave had to reconfigure games for court 2 and 3. Congratulations to the court winners Art Severn, Brett Carroll, Elise Scott and Chrissie Payne.
6th March Results
The inaugural event took place Sunday 6th March in Harrogate at the home of Harrogate Pickleball Club. An afternoon filled with fun and pickleball. Everyone had a blast and were very appreciative of being able to meet new people. Congratulations to the group winners: Michal Cicvek, Trevor Robinson, David Taylor and Sheila Powell.
