Lorraine Cockell - Nottinghamshire
Level 1 Qualified
Having played tennis at league and county level in Nottingham for over 30 years, I was introduced to pickleball and padel tennis three years ago when the physical demands of tennis began to take their toll. It didn’t take long for pickleball to capture my attention—and I’ve never looked back.
Recognising the lack of opportunities to play pickleball in Nottinghamshire, particularly within rural communities, I was motivated to gain my Pickleball Leadership and Level 1 Club Instructor qualifications. My aim has always been to raise awareness of the sport and make it accessible to players in all areas and of all ages and abilities.
Over the past year, I have co-run a successful coaching business, delivering sessions for beginners through to intermediate players across multiple venues. Together, we have built a thriving membership of over 200 players. Alongside coaching, I have organised club tournaments, friendly matches with other pickleball clubs, and a variety of fun social events, as well as providing private sessions to help players reach their full potential.
More recently, I have begun coaching at David Lloyd, where my focus is on continuing to grow and develop pickleball within Nottinghamshire.
My greatest reward comes from seeing players enjoy themselves – creating a welcoming environment where everyone has fun, improves their game, and leaves the court smiling.
James Harding - Nottinghamshire
Level 1 Qualified
I am based at the Lets Dink Pickleball Centre which is located at Caunton Tennis Club near Newark in Nottinghamshire.
I Introduced Pickleball to the Club back in October 2023. I am a Level 4 Performance Tennis Coach, and having coached since 2003, jumped at the chance to increase participation in this rapidly growing sport in the UK. As soon as started playing the game I saw the massive potential within the game.
I hold the Pickleball England Leadership Certificate and the Pickleball England Level 1 Qualification and am soon to undertake Level 2.
Heading up the Pickleball coaching programme and growing the game at Lets Dink is a big focus of mine. My passion for sport drives me on to make the programme one that is available to all levels, and ages and one that goes from strength to strength.
I have my First Aid Certification, safeguarding certification, and DBS Certificate.
I will be working with both adults and juniors through my coaching role and aim to pass on my passion and enthuse people to play and keep playing and helping to make them better players.
IPTPA
Pickleball England also recognise the INTERNATIONAL PICKLEBALL TEACHING PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION (IPTPA) qualification. As acknowledged in the Club Instructor workbook some of the concepts in our curriculum are based on IPTPA.
PickleballEngland provides the coaching insurance for IPTPA Coaches listed on the IPTPA website (click button below). Since this is a dynamic list, we can’t list everyone on this page. We also don’t have visibility for which coaches have all the above evidence.
Other Qualifications
If you have another pickleball qualification (including IPTPA) and want to be listed on this page, we do require that you meet the guarantee on the top of the page. We have a low cost conversion option to be recognised by PbE. Email coaching@pickleballengland.org for more information.
