2025 English OPEN
Wow – what an event that was! A HUGE thanks to all the participating players for choosing our tournament and for helping us retain the title ‘largest pickleball tournament outside the USA’.
We could not have staged the event without the wonderful volunteers – thank you for giving up your time to make the English OPEN a success. A HUGE THANK YOU to the core team that volunteered and ended up doing 14+ hour days. You know who you are. It wasn’t intentional, we wanted 2-3 shifts but there were not enough volunteers to make that happen. We sincerely appreciate you and are humbled by your dedication to ensure that all games were completed every day.
Almost 6000 matches across 110 brackets across 5 days. 958 refereed matches. Clinics and play with the pros on Thursday. Paddle testing added this year plus a day of Seminars on Friday. This tournament had everything! Even a triple crown winner.
Marcello Jardim earned a triple crown in the Senior Pro section. We are not aware of any other triple gold medals, let us know if that is incorrect.

You had to be there to feel the energy and vibe but this slide show gives a nice overview of the event!

The English OPEN is the largest tournament outside of the United States
This year we have 2,348 players from 42 countries. Because of the number of players we were able to offer lots of age and skill brackets to ensure players are battling out with players of the same level.
We checked the DUPR rating of all players (once when we were almost full and once when registration closed) to ensure that the competition was fair. Please note that if someone’s DUPR reliability score is lower than 80%, it is not really reliable. We also check that players have not gold medalled at the level they have entered in the past.
We returned to Telford International Centre (TIC) for the 3rd year. The space at the venue enables us to lay 40 pickleball courts with an acrylic surface, perfect for the Franklin X40 ball.
Every player receives a souvenir programme when they arrived. Here is a link to an online version.
