In 2022 the SSPL pilot saw 11 clubs compete in an inter-club competition that had home and away legs and based on results a Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final, to crown the Winners, Second and Third place teams. For all the results click here.
Findings from the pilot was that scheduling home/away matches was difficult and that the majority preferred a monthly ‘league day’ and a fixed venue. The success of the MLP English Style events at our tournaments led to leveraging the format (with some minor modifications) for the league.
32 teams representing 16 clubs in the South East will be competing across 8 divisions over 8 months. At the end of the 8 months, there will be a Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals Day in November, to crown the League Champions and runner ups.
There will be 4 teams per division. The top division will be the Premier Division, then the remaining divisions will be named Division 1 through to Division 7. See below.
The starting divisions have been determined based on last year’s results and the average rating of the new teams.
