Winster Pickleball Club

The hottest day of the year brought out over twenty keen sporting people to celebrate the grand opening of Winster’s two new pickleball courts.

The marking of these courts on the astroturf at the playing fields in Winster was made possible by funding from Better Derbyshire Dales, County Councillor Simon Spencer, District Councillor Colin Swindell, and matched funding from Winster Playing Fields Association.

Some of the visitors, who actually managed to play in the searing heat, were from Chesterfield PC and Matlock PC. Councillor Spencer also had a go after the opening.  He has a good eye for the ball but found reaching for low balls a bit tricky – more practice Simon!
